The Streaming Platform is Developing a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The newest action-packed game that gamers dived into was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and was released during October 6, 2021. As a series, it has a reputation for celebrating action and mayhem with the same glee, all while telling captivating, politically driven narratives. No wonder then that FX's new order for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two producers whose creations have embodied all of those qualities.
Show Details
Inspired by Ubisoft's hit video game series, the self-contained anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' format by introducing a different backdrop and group of personalities in subsequent series.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, compelling, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this popular property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new comprehensive agreement with the creator.
“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners continues to lift me up with their ongoing confidence and backing.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an standalone program. Each game is a take of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can shift from season to season, while always delving into the nature of people through this intricate and turbulent lens, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and introduce our shared irreverent, ambitious sensibility to the television.”
A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
