News has broken that fan-favorite actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the newest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.

A Major Reunion for Fans

The duo will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. Industry whispers indicate their appearance will probably be featured in a future-set scene, given that the original saga concluded with their characters married and with children.

This represents the sixth film in the global Hunger Games franchise.

Delving Into the Prequel

Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a newly published work by series creator Suzanne Collins. It will be the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who was behind most of the previous films in the series.

The Plot and New Cast

The film's events are set roughly two decades prior to the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.

The film welcomes several prominent actors in important characters:

• Jesse Plemons steps into the role of Plutarch Heavensbee.
• Ralph Fiennes will appear as a younger version of the menacing President Snow.

What the Stars Are Doing Now & The Film's Schedule

Separately, Jennifer Lawrence is receiving acclaim for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson stars in the sequel to the successful franchise Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
