The rising star maintains substantial online following
The young golfer can count on plenty of well-known backers as she starts her LPGA debut this Thursday.
This teenage golfer, who happens to be related to a former US president, obtained a tournament invitation to participate at the Annika competition in Florida.
The former president, an avid golfer, operates numerous courses worldwide and regularly matches against Kai.
"He's pretty good. I shouldn't elaborate but we have some close matches," she revealed.
She mentioned that her grandfather, who cannot attend, told her: "Simply avoid anxiety."
"He basically told me to play and have fun," she explained.
"From my perspective, he's just a regular grandfather. He won't be there this weekend. He's occupied with world affairs, so he's somewhat preoccupied."
While still amateur, Kai has competed in a mere three competitions recently and holds ranking 461 in the American Junior Golf Association listings.
But she's able to get advice from 15-time major champion, in a relationship with Kai's mother.
"He represents the top athlete globally," Kai stated.
"And he's a more impressive person. He suggested me to compete, have fun, and go with the flow."
Kai will face several top competitors in women's golf at the competition, featuring world number two Nelly Korda, British golfer Hull, professional Thompson and last year's winner Lilia Vu.
Officials stated that her participation brings golf to wider groups, especially among the next generation.
Kai maintains millions of followers and has started a personal apparel and wellness label.
The competition starts at 5:30 PM GMT.
