Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities confirmed on late Wednesday. The fighter was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his team members.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The sports star had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.

Honoring the Deceased

The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”

His release from the hospital follows the sports world shared sympathy for the fighter in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
